Muzej Sarajevo 1878-1918 tells the story of the town during the Austro-Hungarian period from 1878 to the end of World War I. The museum occupies the building where Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie, were assassinated. Look for the plaque commemorating the incident on the outside wall and for the replica of the assassin's footprints in cement inside. Two replicas of the Browning used to assassinate the Archduke and the Duchess, plus the lifesize models of Franz Ferdinand and Sophie, are also on display. See other items from the period, such as garments, medals, uniforms, and publications, many of which are replicas. • This museum is basically just a small room. It is very cheap and stands on the site of the assassination of Archiduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. It is probably worth a look as it contains a few interesting facts but will not keep you occupied for very long.
