Galerija 11/07/95, Sarajevo

See the memorial dedicated to victims from Srebrenica at Galerija 11/07/95, where images, maps and interactive materials detail the July 1995 massacre of civilians in this region. With 8,372 confirmed deaths, the act was acknowledged as the first genocide in Europe since World War II. The exhibits present the stories of the survivors and share portraits of murdered families. You'll also witness the offensive graffiti painted on house walls and buildings by enemy forces. The site provides an artistic representation of human pain with consequences that will never be mitigated. • Srebrenica's massacre video is really sad and cruel, but tells you what actually happened in there, in order not to forget.  more »

  • Moving and meaningful. It's an important exhibition which provides a better awareness of the recent history of Bosnia and Serbia. Troubling, but well worth the visit.  more »

  • Powerful and moving photos, especially when paired with the stories provided by the audio guide. The entire exhibit was well laid out and the videos further told the story through personal accounts. After watching part of Miss Sarajevo in the gallery, I purchased a copy to watch at home and share the story with others. While I’d heard news accounts of the atrocities in Srebrenica, this experience provided me with a better understanding of the events that took place. Thank you for sharing this story in such an impactful way - while it is painful to hear and see, it’s important that we learn from these terrible events.
  • A sad but very needed experience. Lot's of photos from the 90's Bosnian war. They have a couple of films that play as well. I would recommend that everyone who comes to Sarajevo see the gallery. I went in June of 2018.
  • Go to this place. It’s very powerful, and much better than the museum of war and genocide. One small critique: I had some trouble with the prominence placed on some graffiti writings soldiers tagged on bunker walls. These more or less private blurbs I don’t think necessarily represent the complex feelings of the Dutchbat’s stationed there.
  • Really like the concept of the gallery (12km) and getting an audio guide (+ 3km) is a must. The photographs are really powerful and the audio guide adds depth to the photos by providing back stories as well. Interactive films are also shown in the gallery. Note: tickets are valid for 2 days and you have to provide an ID in exchange for audio guide.
  • Even though the museum is in a small territory - you can spend like 1,5 hrs easily there listening to the commentars and watching the movies. The museum is a really quality one. The Sarajevo siege extra photos are very powerful. AUDIO GUIDE IS A MUST!
