Bridge Landmark
Old Bridge (Stari Most) presents a reconstructed version of the 16th-century Ottoman bridge over the Neretva River, which was destroyed in the Yugoslav wars. Considered to be one of the most typical structures of the Islamic architecture in the region, the bridge is reminiscent of the centuries reign of sultans, Suleiman the Magnificent, and the strength and suffering of the Balkan people. After surviving for more than 425 years, the bridge finally fell under an attack of more than 60 shells. Today you can see it standing again, revived, amidst castles and houses. • Must see. Beautiful. One of a kind in a world. Destroyef in a war , then rebuilt with same stones pulled from the river. Also famous for the high jumps (28 - 36m)
  • As the main attraction of Mostar, the Old Bridge is definitely worth checking out if you you're in the area. The centuries-old bridge was destroyed in the Croat-Bosniak war and rebuilt in 2004. The bridge itself is quite slippery and the stone "steps" are quite far apart. Use caution when crossing! Entertainers occasionally jump from the railing in an attempt to raise a few coins from photographing tourists.
  • The date devil jump from the bridge is breathtaking. Feels like a place lost in time. A small war museum has some good photos of what happened here just 2 decades back.
  • Very obliging hosts. The girls went to a lot of trouble to make our stay a happy one. It is very well located to the Old Town and Bridge. Parking is available.
  • With hindsight we would not have made a detour to Mostar. The bridge is the big draw but it is almost drowned by the number of tourists and tourism related stores. There are much better ways to pass your time in this beautiful part of the world.
