Blagaj tekija, Mostar
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Situated below a massive cliff at the source of the Buna River, Blagaj tekija represents an Ottoman religious structure--one that is still used by monks--in a Mediterranean setting. With its temperate climate, idyllic setting, and drinkable fresh water, the site was a favorite spot for numerous Roman nobles, Ottoman viziers, and Austro-Hungarian officers. See the river--one of the strongest in Europe--and observe a wide variety of birds here, including the threatened white-headed vulture. View the plots that hold Mediterranean fruits and tour the shrine, tomb, and mausoleum. The setting is incredible. The inside mildly interesting, despite very nice staff and some reasonably good explanation (on a piece of paper).
Wow it's really amazing place! I saw it on movie years ago and always wanted to visit it! It is magical please and beautiful architecture! Absolutely must who comes to Mostar!!!
We didn't eat there, we just went for the site, which is great, really beautiful. Clear water, calming sound, historical.
Stunning place, great food, but poor services in restoraunts (waiters speak very bad or not at all english language, not give a smile to anyone and not polite), parking cost the same - if you stay 1 hour or 24 hours!?!
