Blagaj tekija, Mostar
(4.4/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Situated below a massive cliff at the source of the Buna River, Blagaj tekija represents an Ottoman religious structure--one that is still used by monks--in a Mediterranean setting. With its temperate climate, idyllic setting, and drinkable fresh water, the site was a favorite spot for numerous Roman nobles, Ottoman viziers, and Austro-Hungarian officers. See the river--one of the strongest in Europe--and observe a wide variety of birds here, including the threatened white-headed vulture. View the plots that hold Mediterranean fruits and tour the shrine, tomb, and mausoleum. • one of the oldest in this party of the world. And probably one of the most beautiful tekijas. If you listen to the river you can hear the dervishs prayer. :) Must visit of a history lover.
  • The place is lovely and picturesque but very touristique and full of shops. The restaurants offer poor quality food and are generally overpriced, but this is expected in places living on the one off v...  more »

  • Beautiful place not far from Mostar that is a must see if you are around. The birth place of an transparent colour river. It's juat peaceful. There is some restaurants around, a couple of campings and food stores.
  • The old summer setting of pasha from Mostar. Very nice place, museum inside, worth of visiting. Crowded during the season.
  • The setting is incredible. The inside mildly interesting, despite very nice staff and some reasonably good explanation (on a piece of paper).
