Beach
Divers and snorkelers alike can enjoy Playa Funchi, a quiet beach teeming with wildlife both in and out of the water. Explore the beach, set within the Washington-Slagbaai National Park. You'll find it down a short but hard to navigate road, so exercise caution when driving. You can enjoy great views from the clifftops of the clear water below; watch flamingos in the nearby salt pans and lizards basking in the sun. For snorkelers, entry to the water can be difficult, so wear shoes and remain aware of the very strong currents in this part of the island. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen as there aren't any amenities on site. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Washington-Slagbaai National Park holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Playa Funchi and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • In the course of a visit to the National Park we visited also Playa Funchi... Apart from the great fish while snorkelling, also the ´ has delighted us naughty kind ´ of lizards and iguanas. They come very close and wait patiently until you walk off with a piece of fruit ´ ´ can. This is pure still unspoilt nature. It's great that there's so little yet.
