Lake Gotomeer, Bonaire

(3.9/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Visit Lake Gotomeer and treat yourself to pristine surroundings of calm salty water, green hills, and hundreds of flamingos. A 70 m (230 ft) wall of coral separates the lake from the sea. Though no visible connection with the ocean can be seen, the salty water suggests an underwater connection still exists. Bring plenty of food and drinks as there are no nearby shops. • We drove alongside the lake as part of an island tour. For some reason we were not allowed to get off the bus at this point, so we could only look at all the flamingos through the windows of the bus. ...  more »
  • At our Bonaire Island Tours also a detour along the Gotomeers, could not be missed a lake in the northwestern part of the island. To get off the time had not enough unfortunately, but also from the bus, a nice view of the Lake with its small islands, and in particular on the pink flamingos living in the Lake offered us. Namely, in the Salt Lake, they find enough food in the form of salt water crabs, a reason for its beautiful pink color.
