Inspirock Rating:
3.6/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
The cramped and inhumane conditions at Slave Huts continue to serve as a grim but important historical lesson. Built in 1850 and scattered along the coast, these small huts served as bedrooms and a place to store belongings while the Dutch colony's slaves were working on the salt fields, separated from their families. You can easily visit on a self-guided tour, as informational plaques next to the huts provide insight into the life of the slaves in the Caribbean. Before you head to Kralendijk, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Kralendijk travel itinerary maker, to make sure you see all that Kralendijk has to offer, including Slave Huts.
