Klein Bonaire, Bonaire

#2 of 14 in Nature in Bonaire
Take a boat ride to the tiny islet of Klein Bonaire, and enjoy unspoiled natural beauty. Just 800 m (2624 ft) from Bonaire’s mainland, the uninhabited island of “Little Bonaire” was privately owned until 1999, when it became part of the Bonaire National Marine Park. Visit the deserted, isolated island for a day of peace, relaxation, and excellent snorkeling. The crystal clear waters allow you to explore the island’s tropical reefs and spot diverse marine life, such as sea turtles and flamingos. The island has no facilities, so you have to bring everything you need with you. • This was definitely the best highlight of our trip (which everything was amazing, so this was just on top of the already awesome experiences). We planned originally to go once and we ended up going ov...  more »
  • An island in front of the main town of Bonaire, characterised by the fact that there is nothing, not a kiosk, nothing! And thank goodness! Is kept so without any settlement. The sea is amazing, as is the amount of different species of fish. Amazing! I've been to Klein Bonaire as part of a tour with a yacht that which resulted in 2 different locations for snorkel, but this is truly unique!

  • If you get to Bonaire, take the water taxi over to Klein Bonaire which is a small uninhabited island just off the coast. The reef surrounds the island and is protected by the government. The sand is p...  more »

  • Best snorkeling I've ever done, hands down! Has a HUGE coral reef which brings in tons of fish. We saw a sea turtle too! I brought my underwater camera (which had the wrong date on it) but the poor camera doesn't show how clear the water visibility really is.
  • Very nice small island.. Beautiful beach. Nice place to have fun with family and friends.
  • One of the best beaches of Bonaire. It's a great place to snorkel and relax
  • The best place ever. You may come by boat ($20 roundtrip). It's very safe. There is nothing to sell in the island, so bring you own food and drink, and please, bring back all your trash. Nature appreciate. Also, there is no washroom. So it's just you and yhe beach, nothing else. You can easily swin using goggles and see many coral reefs and fishes. It was the best experience ever.
  • Way too many tourist, who have no clue about coral and underwater life. Coral is totally dead. Barely any fish.
