Hilma Hooker, Bonaire

(4.4/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Now the stuff of diving folklore, Hilma Hooker is often considered one of the best shipwreck dives in the Caribbean. The vessel sank in 1984 after a vast amount of marijuana was found onboard. Now the 70 m (229.6 ft) vessel lies on a sand flat between two coral reef systems commonly known as Angel City. In clear deep blue waters, circle the perimeter of this dramatic wreck then swim in for a closer look alongside shoals of tarpon and parrotfish. With depths varying from 20 m (65.6 ft) to 35 m (114.8 ft), the wreck has spots for both beginner and more advanced divers to explore. With our online itinerary creator, Kralendijk attractions like Hilma Hooker can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • very nice wreck to dive to, between 30 and 35 meter with interesting fish as barracuda, tuna , crabs and other kinds
  • This is close to the salt peer dive site. Also close to Angel reef and Alice in Wonderland reef. There are several dive sites near by. Come in for the morning or the afternoon. Bring 3 tanks per perso...  more »
  • An exciting story connected to the wreck, which is certainly one of the slight dives. Granted it's not spectacular, but quite beautiful to look at and very well maintained. A beautiful and relaxing dive between 18-32m.
