Visit Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire and meet its charming residents. Founded in 1939 by a Dutch couple, the sanctuary provides refuge and care for sick or orphaned donkeys in Bonaire. Take a drive through the large park where the donkeys are free to roam--you can pet them and feed them carrots on the drive. Visit the special care meadow, where pregnant, injured, and baby donkeys are kept, learn about the efforts of the sanctuary, and support the donkeys by buying souvenirs from the gift shop. After the tour, you can admire tortoises and iguanas in the garden, or relax with a refreshing drink on the terrace, which overlooks a salt lake. • Absolute must do on Bonaire!! What a great sanctuary for donkeys. You can drive through and walk free, feed them and coddle with them. The baby’s are extra cute. Take lots of carrot 🥕 and buy a basket of food there and don’t give all the food away to the curious ones, save some for the ones in the back of the beautiful park. The souvenir shop is actually really nice and you support the initiative with it. Take two hours. 🥰 Big shout out to all the volunteers and the hard workers that take care of all the 600 (hello!) donkeys with so much love ❤️❤️❤️
  • Great place and a good cause. Fun place to visit and spend some time.
  • We had lots of fun at the Donkey Sanctuary. Buy a bucket of food to support the Sanctuary and have even more fun while feeding the Donkey's. We spend about 2 hours in this park. You can drive or walk through this park.
  • Amazing spot and amazing experience. The Donkey Sanctuary hosts 700 (yes 7-0-0!) wild donkeys on 60 acres of land. The many staff members are super friendly and really take time to explain what they are up to and what's it like to run a sanctuary like this. The best part of the experience is the drive through in the park. You can buy a bag of fresh carrots (3usd / bag) and feed the donkeys from your car. I highly recommend you to buy at least two but probably more like 4 or 5 bags. Brilliant pictures and stories guaranteed!
  • This place is a lot of fun. The best part is buying a bag of carrots and feeding the donkeys as they roam around the park from you truck window. You'll have at least 8 donkeys trying to jam their heads in your windows for a carrot. It's hilarious!
