It is at one end of the Salar de Uyuni. In its decorative Andean farming and agriculture is practised, and there are various farmhouses. There is a run by the local community, an indigenous settlement ruins that have not been restored, but with the explanations of the guides, allow to get an idea of how they lived the first inhabitants of the area. At the foot of the volcano and just where it starts salting, there are several small lakes in which there are many flamingos. If it climbs along a path that runs along the slopes of the volcano, it is possible to have an extraordinary view of the salar de uyuni.

We continue the journey with the destination the volcano Tunupa, where after going through some remote villages, such as Ayque and Coquesa, let us pause in to an old cottage in Tahua, rintanando because the strong wind arose. The animal pens blend with rocks; small islands you can see the sea of salt, lit up completely by the Sun: it is a fantastic landscape. Here live blade and men; in the square, central square gazebo with tables for picnics, a beautiful church with belfry in adobe, unfortunately with the metal roof. While waiting to have lunch we go to walk the edge of salar, where many lamas are grazing greedily on the bofedales, wetted parts, rich in organic matter, where they grow herbs and plants fed by underground waters low mineralized ascents oxygen concentration. After a while this vast expanse of salt it becomes familiar with the crater of the volcano Tunupa which at 5,321 meters is upon us and makes us watchdog, bordering on the North edge of the desert.

Easy until the mirador is 4700 meters. The path part end of the village of 3700 meters and count 3-4 hours to go up and down, according to acclimatization l altitude. Bear N have done after more than 8 days in altiplano l and n so no problems. In the past must be equipped with day or we have done, there was a terrible wind storm and the climb to the top was prohibited. Great views, beautiful colors and meeting with.
