Isla Incahuasi, Uyuni

#2 of 89 in Parks in Bolivia
Island · Nature / Park
An otherworldly island seemingly out of place in the middle of the salt flats, Isla Incahuasi represents the primary destination for most organized tours to the flats. From the hilly island, you can view the vastness of the salt flats all around you, stretching as far as you can see. Cacti cover the 24 hectare (61 acre) island, and you'll also find a tourist center catering to the many visitors who gather here every day. Make the 15-minute climb to the top of the hill for an even more awe-inspiring view of this supernatural landscape. • Not only are the cactus amazing, but there were several Vizcacha (a small rabbit with long tail - part of the Chincilla family) running around and they are pretty stinking adorable!  more »
  • An amazing island in the middle of the Salt Desert where centuries-old cacti grow, a very special experienceץ  more »
  • A magical place with one of the most beautiful views on the continent. It looks like something out of a story. It seems inexplicable, but the place has a forest of hundreds of gigantic cactuses...  more »
  • Amazing place. We saw the sunrise from the top and it was just an unforgettable experience
  • Fantastic place, the Hotels were built with salt bricks, inclusive the furniture. We had a wonderful holiday.I with recomend.
  • Small island in the middle of the salt lake. Entrance fee is 30BOB. There is a short hiking path to the top. There you will enjoy a beautiful 360 view. The stop here is part of the Uyuni salt tour.
  • In the middle of 'nowhere' and surrounded by the largest salt flats, this island makes great impression given it's unique picturesque location. Surface is very rocky of volcanic origin with large number of very old and high pasacanta cacti. Definitely worth visiting.
  • It is really nice tourist attraction because of the scenery all the way around and the mysterious and beautiful gigantic cacti in this rocky island about 50 km away from the Uyuni side entrance of the salt flat. The little islands (told there are 23) reflected on salt plain add mystic sensation as if seeing the entire salt flat area here is an out of body experience.
