  • This site offers a panoramic view of the entire city. You can go for day or night, and is equally beautiful and quiet. It can be walked.

  • I got here early cause i had a quick morning. After walking up that nightmare of a hill, i waited for nearly two hours for it to open up after the city's siesta. After 230, the woman kept saying, anot...  more »

  • Totally worth a visit to see the beautiful views of the city. It's free and it feels very safe which is great! Plenty of seating and it's not too hard to access (a little bit of a steep climb but totally doable). Don't expect too much from it however, as there is little to do at the top (however, the cafe is a GREAT place to kill some time).
  • Worth to visit. Beautiful overview over Sucre. Nice place to watch the sunset .
  • Perfect for great sunset view over the city
  • A simple stroll up the hill. It was just 12 minutes from my hostel to catch the sunrise. The view from La Recolecta was pretty good but there is a nearby hotel that offers a much better view.
  • Excellent view, a very romantic and peaceful place for a pleasant chat... I know they can take good photos either by day and by night. It is free and there are two nearby museums to visit. Sold memories close and it can also be walked from the center of the city. Very, but highly recommended!

Where to stay in Sucre

With building restrictions in place for decades, the city of Sucre has developed a little differently than most other cities on the continent. However, the touristic appeal of Sucre has driven up demand for accommodations--now slotted in old, colonial-era buildings rather than new-build high-rises. This development ethos has worked well, with lodgings in Sucre's center among the most comfortable and characterful in the country. Exclusive options cluster around the town's prettiest plazas, with grand rooms and fine-dining restaurants. Budget-minded visitors should explore the range of posadas (guesthouses), set in modest formerly residential buildings on the town's side streets.
