Samaipata/Santa Cruz Road, Santa Cruz
(3.3/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy the remarkable scenery as you drive along Samaipata/Santa Cruz Road. The old road connecting the ruins at Samaipata with the city of Santa Cruz spans 120 km (75 mi), offering memorable views and some points of interest to add to your trip. Make stops along the way, including a colossal red rock jutting out from the landscape and a serene crater lake near the rim of a volcano. Drive carefully--the poorly maintained road can be dicey, especially after heavy rainfalls. Use our Santa Cruz trip itinerary planner to arrange your visit to Samaipata/Santa Cruz Road and other attractions in Santa Cruz.

  • The beautiful, quiet and clean. Has a great climate and many possibilities for interesting trips. There are good restaurants around the central square.

  • Samaipata is a perfect place to escape the heat and the chaos of Santa Cruz. This just 2 hours and reached some combis for just 50 bolivianos. They are shared in and out each time they are filled. It is a small, picturesque and tranquil village. There are several things to do, two of the most important are: the strong, pre-Hispanic ruins, and the forest of giant ferns in the amboro National Park. What traps of samaipata is your peace of mind and the kindness of the people. Don't expect a terrible amount of tourism, but if several foreigners living there. That you tend to have some very nice bars for a drink in the evening. Don't forget to go and at least go to the forest of ferns, is worthwhile.
