Parque Lomas de Arena, Santa Cruz

(3.6/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Explore the 14,000 hectares (34,594 acres) of Parque Lomas de Arena, a semi-arid coastal area featuring sand dunes rising to 12 m (39 ft). The park opened in 1990 to protect the dunes, but encompasses a variety of terrain including jungle, tropical plains, and a picturesque central lagoon. Keen-eyed visitors can spot numerous mammals and over 250 avian species here. Currently, no public transport services the park, so your best bet is to visit with a tour company; consider one that operates specific birdwatching excursions. • A unique experience is the visit of the Park hills of sand, an amazing place which is difficult to believe that you are minutes away from the city and close to the forest, definitely a good place.

  • The place is cute and nothing else. It does not have an infrastructure for tourists. Close to the hills there is a hotel which is completely neglected and unmaintained. But can be a good option for the lunch and if is running the pool, for cooling is in a day of heat. But, it is best to take everything you need... such as water, sanduiches etc. It is good to know but at the same time I see it means dangerous since there are no police in the place, and I've already heard from many assaults tourists there same.
