After La Casa de La Moneda, this, together with the convent of Santa Teresa, was the most interesting place I visited in Potosí, is visited part of the convent and the Church, which are colonial buildings, underground crypt and the roof, where there is a viewpoint of the city and the cerro rico de Potosi.

This church, built in 1547, has 3 ships and 11 domes, a beauty. The image of Christ who is the altar is carved in wood in Baroque style, has real hair and don't know the author; According to the Guide, the population believes that your hair still growing and that the image already cried 4 times. Every 50 years the image leaves in procession and the last time was in the year 2000. Has a crypt where, at the time of the colony, were buried the Spaniards who wanted to get closer to the sky, and they paid a lot of money to satisfy your desire. The walls were covered with a mixture of lime, egg, Cactus, resin and honey. Up the stairs we give a wonderful Lookout, with a spectacular view of the city.

Where to stay in Potosi

Because of protection from overdevelopment by UNESCO, you won't find many high-rise, newly built hotels within Potosi's city limits. Instead, visitors can choose from a good selection of colonial-era buildings housing charming hotels and welcoming guesthouses. Generally speaking, look to the south end of the center for more budget-friendly options, with little guesthouses located on residential side streets. By contrast, the more spacious area surrounding the train station has the majority of the grander hotels, set on impressive boulevards and overlooking central plazas.
