We did the tour in french in August. The visit lasts 1 h 30 but it's the race all along. The explanations are interesting but the guide speaks very quickly to complete the round on time. We go from room to room without really having the time to look at everything that is exposed. A guide is compulsory in this museum but can't even back in the rooms to see what we had time to see, it's a shame because is very rich in object, machine and piece of eras. We do not regret this visit but for the price (40 bob) could leave us more time.

Enjoyable experience. The museum is well laid out and set in a colonial atmosphere. Suitable for adults and kids. Makes it more fun if you go with a guide

Incredibly interesting, the tours are well explained and they not only say about the history of the coins and currency, etc, but say about the history of the city of Potosí, as well as some religious facts that are really interesting. If you are going to visit Potosí, this is a must.

Very interesting museum. The guided tour is very useful to understand the story of the Bolivian money story. Nice rooms and well staged scenes.

Where to stay in Potosi

Because of protection from overdevelopment by UNESCO, you won't find many high-rise, newly built hotels within Potosi's city limits. Instead, visitors can choose from a good selection of colonial-era buildings housing charming hotels and welcoming guesthouses. Generally speaking, look to the south end of the center for more budget-friendly options, with little guesthouses located on residential side streets. By contrast, the more spacious area surrounding the train station has the majority of the grander hotels, set on impressive boulevards and overlooking central plazas.
