Valle de la Luna, La Paz

(3.5/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Seek adventure in a landscape of jagged rock spires at Valle de la Luna, located just minutes from La Paz. Literally translated from Spanish as the "Valley of the Moon," the landscape was created by gradual erosion by wind and water. You can see why the bizarre clay formations have always drawn comparisons to the otherworldly as you wander through the field of spires and climb up staircases carved into the rock. Note the many colors of the landscape, ranging from sandy brown to red and violet, caused by the variety of minerals in the rock. Take a look at our La Paz vacation planner to schedule your visit to Valle de la Luna and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • It's a bunch of erosion effected mud that sort of looks like moonscape. Only problem is you are still surrounded by urban sprawl, so its a bit hard to indulge in the fantasy. It's really hard to breat...  more »
  • Just at lunch time it doesn't have to be on the road in the Valley of the Moon, but the spectacular landscape of the Hel-loose clay is very fascinating. Way, partly run great pillars steps past high into the blue sky, small caves, passages, a small bridge across the Valley, flowering cacti etc represent memorable photo opportunities. Pay attention to the time of day and use best the morning hours for photos.

  • Amazing place formed by erosion and earthquake, turning the terrain into impressive uneven ground. It is worth visiting and your ticket is very cheap.
