Huayna Potosi, La Paz

4.3
#2 of 7 in Nature in La Paz
Mountain Nature / Park
Soaring over the highest capital city in the world, Huayna Potosi offers a challenging hike up a scenic, snow-covered mountain. An adventure for even the most experienced of climbers, the route typically begins with a 4x4 ride to the base camp, followed by a long hike to another camp located on the snow line. From here, the summit is reached on a hike up the glacier, with most people doing this stretch in 6-8 hours. It isn't usual for people to complete the entire climb in a day, but it has been done before. Check weather conditions before traveling and heed the advice of experts at each camp.
