Huayna Potosi, La Paz

(4.3/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Soaring over the highest capital city in the world, Huayna Potosi offers a challenging hike up a scenic, snow-covered mountain. An adventure for even the most experienced of climbers, the route typically begins with a 4x4 ride to the base camp, followed by a long hike to another camp located on the snow line. From here, the summit is reached on a hike up the glacier, with most people doing this stretch in 6-8 hours. It isn't usual for people to complete the entire climb in a day, but it has been done before. Check weather conditions before traveling and heed the advice of experts at each camp. • Not had intention of climbing a mountain of 6,088 m in this trip, but arrived to the peace and us encourage. Us it sold as an excursion relatively easy and since we are accustomed to the hiking, think in try it in the package of 3 days and 2 nights. The experience was very positive, because we did training in the glacial and got very well with fellow guides, shelters and food were simple but very correct. Climb Huayna Potosí is not easy, in our case joined a storm of snow, and the team of 15 people came only 3 to the Summit. In my case I was to 5,900 m because of tiredness, lack of oxygen and the feeling of insecurity if something happened so I decided to see the Summit from a few meters below. I think that it is a unique and unforgettable experience, but you must be very conscious of the limits of each body.
