Huayna Potosi, La Paz
(4.4/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Soaring over the highest capital city in the world, Huayna Potosi offers a challenging hike up a scenic, snow-covered mountain. An adventure for even the most experienced of climbers, the route typically begins with a 4x4 ride to the base camp, followed by a long hike to another camp located on the snow line. From here, the summit is reached on a hike up the glacier, with most people doing this stretch in 6-8 hours. It isn't usual for people to complete the entire climb in a day, but it has been done before. Check weather conditions before traveling and heed the advice of experts at each camp. • And 6, 000 meters above sea level in Potosí or so close really cold temperatures in two nights and three days course recently to operate and that is why, even though you can climb down to bedrock, including two days climbing should be a day to practice, but more likely to succeed in climbing higher. If this bad altitude sickness but until base camp ... From that point, no matter how skilled people, a tough, all backed by fiddles, and stamina, weather should be but can come up to menacing.

  • We decided to go through an independent guide to climb. When we met groups of agencies we were happy, we were only 2 so that the Group were 15 people. Germán has 15 years of experience it is someone very discreet which is passionate about mountain and seriously. We really wished not to leave with him. He knows the course and adapts very well to our pace it abrupt us not and believe in us to take us to the end what is really important! Unfortunately we could not go to the top due to the evil of the mountains but German we encouraged to go halfway and we really leave the choice to continue or return to camp. It prepares the meals very good and excellent! We highly recommend rather than going through an agency, especially if you want to support the independent guides! He comes even pick you up at your hotel and rented shoes with you.

  • The Climbing Huayna Potosí was extraordinary. The ascent to the Summit of the mountain is impressive, also the landscape and extreme cold makes think just to get to the top. And when succeed you an emotion takes hold of you and happy to have it. Yes, it would make.
