  • A elegant and nice palace in Bhutan. You will find the environment calm, peach and elegant when you visit, anytime, any season. Its a great example of Bhutanese traditional architecture and culture. Must visit if you came Bhutan.
  • The history of this place is just so intriguing. Even the officials who show around the dzong are so we'll versed. One thing amazed me that you can cross paths with the King. Seriously where does that happen! Such simple yet so elegant. The culture that is cut off from Western influence.
  • The beauty of this fortress can be seen from heights of different places in Thimpu. The administration here is unlike any other places. The temple sanctum inside the fort is extremely peaceful. Make sure you visit it.
  • Very beautiful... But its open mon to Friday 4.30 to 5.30...Saturday n Sunday full open... What's why we can't entry....
  • Must see destination in Thimpu. Dzong (pronounced as Zong: meaning fort and it is a seat of both religion and administration). It is situated on the banks of the river Wangchhu. The site houses the throne room, offices of the king, the secretariat and various ministries, offices and monastery. The place has been rebuilt multiple times after getting destroyed by fire or earthquake. Very serene place and is surrounded by beautiful rose garden

Where to stay in Thimphu

As the capital, Thimphu features the largest range of accommodations in the kingdom. Only opening up to international tourism in the 1970's, the list remains relatively small, but the city remains in a period of development, so more options are arriving each year. Take a look along Norzim Lam, the main thoroughfare, for a number of small hotels, both budget and standard. Located close to the main attractions in the city, and overlooking the most attractive public plazas and parks, a small number of charming hotels offer mid-range and luxury rooms, with additional facilities such as pools.
