Library Traveler Resource
Tour literary heritage at National Library and Archives of Bhutan, a collection of rare books and photographs. Set in a traditionally designed four-story temple with a small ornate shrine on every floor, the library preserves xylographic blocks, manuscripts, and microfilms important to Bhutanese heritage. Established in 1967, the library also houses the largest certified published book in the world, at 1.52 m (5 ft) high and 2.13 m (7 ft) wide, weighing 60.32 kg (133 lb). Photos of the royal family are hung from the walls, and you can buy souvenirs in the bookshop. • Not so good enough. Collection of books is not in large numbers. Surrounding atmosphere and scenic view is however lovely.
  • A collection of old Archive. The most interesting about it is they have the largest book which was recorded in the Genius Book of World Record.
  • typical bhutanese building, with wooden floors inside; can see the world's largest book on the ground floor; otherwise just casually roam around, with nothing particular, but see some pictures of Dzongs of Bhutan
  • It has the richest collection of books on Buddhism, history and culture of Bhutan.
  • The heart of word and wisdom. But people don't visit it as expected. Have to find out why, and must work on how to make it popular among people.

Where to stay in Thimphu

As the capital, Thimphu features the largest range of accommodations in the kingdom. Only opening up to international tourism in the 1970's, the list remains relatively small, but the city remains in a period of development, so more options are arriving each year. Take a look along Norzim Lam, the main thoroughfare, for a number of small hotels, both budget and standard. Located close to the main attractions in the city, and overlooking the most attractive public plazas and parks, a small number of charming hotels offer mid-range and luxury rooms, with additional facilities such as pools.
