Where to stay in Punakha

Though a handful of hotels and resorts exist in Punakha, many visitors choose to stay in national capital Thimphu or a nearby town or village. Thimphu has the widest selection of accommodations, but you may want to consider one of the cozy spots tucked in the valley, just a 20- to 25-minute drive from Punakha. If you're having trouble finding lodging in Punakha, take a look at the nearby towns of Wolakha, Sopsokha, and Lobesa.

  • Very beautiful view especially as the locals and monks use the bridge, it can be a sight to behold. Just sitting here with the breeze in your hair can also be a beautiful experience.
  • An awesome and breathtaking experience to walk through the longest hanging bridge of Bhutan. Simultaneously, enjoying the lovely view of both sides of the bridge is exceptionally well and unexplainable.
  • One of the longest suspension bridges. Brilliant view from the middle of the bridge and the bridge swinging in the wind adds to the excitement!
  • This is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan and quite an intriguing structure. It has lateral support from 6 cables. This is situated just near the Dzong. You can drop off from your vehicle near the cremation ground and then take a 20 minutes walk from there.
