Where to stay in Punakha

Though a handful of hotels and resorts exist in Punakha, many visitors choose to stay in national capital Thimphu or a nearby town or village. Thimphu has the widest selection of accommodations, but you may want to consider one of the cozy spots tucked in the valley, just a 20- to 25-minute drive from Punakha. If you're having trouble finding lodging in Punakha, take a look at the nearby towns of Wolakha, Sopsokha, and Lobesa.

  • A difficult track and even very difficult terrain, leads you to the temple, where you forget all your tiredness and wish to come again and again. Extremely beautiful surroundings and enchanting nrity of nature surrounding this temple of God of death and teaching of purity of life is must visit when un Bhutan.
  • It's a bit of a climb but well worth it for the views
  • Scene from the top of the chorten is beautiful with the mochhu river flowing through the lust green valley of punakha, precious mountain ranges roof with snow cap..
  • One of the best place to enjoy the scene of Punakha. !
  • Hike to the monastery is challenging and it takes about 40 mins hike up the steep. From the monastery you get the beautiful aerial view of the Punakha valley, Yibesa village and colorful rice field. From the monastery you can either return to the road or take a further hike to Jiligang and then descend to Punkha where you will see a confluence of famous me and female river of Punakha.
