Burning Lake, Bumthang

Inspirock Rating:
2.8/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web
Enjoy a visit to the sacred site of Burning Lake, a calm, wider part of the narrow Tang Chu river stream. Buddhists revere the area, believing that Guru Rimpoche had hidden a religious treasure here, found in the 15th century by a Buddhist teacher. Brave the downhill hike to the water, where you can take in the spiritual atmosphere and scenic forest surroundings. Don't get too close to the ledge, as it is dangerous to fall in due to the river's strong rapids.
