Gibb's Hill Lighthouse, Southampton Parish

4.6
One of the oldest cast iron lighthouses in the world, Gibb's Hill Lighthouse was built in 1844 by the British Army Royal Engineers. The 117 feet (35 m) tall lighthouse stands on top of Gibb's Hill and features a plaque and viewpoint that commemorates the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Climb the 185 steps to the top of the lighthouse to be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the area. Visit the lighthouse tea room, in the restored cottage of the lighthouse keeper, for a meal at the foot of the tower. Gibb's Hill Lighthouse is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Southampton Parish Edition.

  • Amazing views. For the brave of heart you can climb to the top (125 steps). It is the oldest continuously operating cast iron lighthouse. The views from the base of the overlook were good enough for me.
  • We visited Gibbs about 30 minutes before closing and they were so nice to leave the gift shop open until after we came back down... Which then was 5 minutes before closing. Well worth the climb if you have a good heart and energetic legs.. Even a bit romantic at the top as we were the only ones up there... 💝 you can see the ocean on both sides of the island as that part of the island is narrow. Save money for the gift shop because it has very economical deals. We never got to enjoy our gifts though because we got robbed on the descent back down the road heading west... When a motorcycle came up along side our motorized scooter and grabbed the bag that we had laying in the basket behind us. Just be careful to hide your merchandise if you rent a scooter.
  • I wanted to see a lighthouse while in the island, and this one was walking distance from the hotel. The views up here are amazing and you can see for miles. Met a nice local lady that shared stories of her time on the island. The lighthouse itself was closed, so I didn’t get to walk to the top. But the views at the base are worth the visit.
  • We went to bermuda on a cruise ship we found our way to the lighthouse we missed it last time we went to Bermuda we were very glad we got there this time we paid 2.50$ a pearson to climb the 185 steps to the top and the view was awesome we could see our cruise ship off in the distance the view of the island from up there was worth the climb would recommend checking the lighthouse out.
  • It is well worth the effort to climb the lighthouse and get an amazing view of the unique and beautiful island of Bermuda.
