Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, Hamilton
(4.1/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Dive into the fun and educational displays at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Opened in 1997, the museum presents the myths and facts of the deep sea and Bermuda’s historic shipwrecks through a combination of interactive displays and intriguing artefacts. Discover lost underwater riches in the “Treasure Room,” a vast collection of jewels, gold, and artifacts retrieved from the depths by Bermuda’s legendary scuba diver, Teddy Tucker. The star exhibit here is the mesmerising shell collection, an enchanting array of over 1,200 shells owned and collected by Jack Lightbourn. It is though to be the largest private collection of shells in the world. • Nice place to have lunch but the venue as an "institute" is a bit lacking. Not much of interest and the "shark cage" must be seen as a joke (repeating video of sharks coming at you while you stand in ...  more »
  • We held a conference here with our clients from Pembroke tile. Oh my gosh! The staff did an amazing job. The sushi and sandwiches were awesome and the venue is GORGEOUS!!

  • $15 per adult for non members. Great rainy day activity if you're visiting the island. Great for kids, they also host events and movies etc. There is a nice place for food downstairs, and a gift shop upstairs. Interesting information about environmental impact from plastic, Americas cup, Local wrecks and lots more.
  • BUEI is a great local resource for learning about a range of things related to Bermuda's relationship with the ocean. Fun and interesting for both children and adults. It's also a popular place for school field trips.
  • Good educational visit for kids.
