IXCACAO Maya Belizean Chocolate, Punta Gorda
(4.8/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Since 1985, IXCACAO Maya Belizean Chocolate has followed ancient Mayan practices for producing one of the world's favorite treats. Owners Juan Cho and Abelina Cho insist on promoting sustainable organic methods of farming, and make their chocolate without the use of artificial flavoring and synthetic stabilizers. Embark on the family-friendly tour, which shows how the local populace coexists with this natural resource, and have a taste of freshly produced cacao along the way. If you want to satisfy more than just your sweet tooth, you can also try homemade dishes like chocolate chicken, pork, or fish. • Amazing Maya owned farm to table chocolate company that makes really excellent dark chocolate in the heart of Belize's cacao growing region, the Toledo District. The only chocolate company in Belize to own its own cacao farm. Innovative Maya entrepreneurs making a difference in their home village and country. Juan and Abelina are the best. I take visitors there with my tour company all the time and everyone loves them, the chocolate making experience, the tree to bar tour activities and the really excellent dark chocolate.
