#6 of 21 in Nature in Cayo
Immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of nature at Rio On Pools. Dip into cool, calm granite pools that feed from water cascading down rocks. Surrounded by lush green vegetation, the nearby grassy area makes for a great spot to enjoy a picnic while listening to the sound of water flowing downstream. Bring good water shoes and be careful when traversing the granite, as the rocks can be very slippery. • Great place to cool off, and so many different pools, even if there are some folks didn't feel too busy (although there were only small vehicles when we were there, no tours). Was a great stop to cool...  more »
  • We didn't have a car so we hired a cab driver from San Ignacio for 70BZD ($35 USD) roundtrip – it was so worth it! It’s about 1.25 hours to the waterfall (paved and dirt roads). The waterfall is locat...  more »

  • This was a pretty fun place to swim. It was very beautiful. I may have given it five stars if we had not gone to Big Rock Falls. That place was even better. Watch out for the locals wearing banana hammocks.
  • A very nice place to swim and relax in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. It's free and there's a short hike before getting to the pools. In the water there is a bunch of individual pools that you can sit in and be massaged by the small cascading waterfall. No facilities here but there's a changing room.
  • Wow! This place was the highlight of our trip. Make sure you have a safe car! Getting here is a long drive over very bumpy muddy roads. No lights at night. Water is super refreshing! Be careful as rocks are slippery.
  • Many good swimming spots and plenty of flat rocks to lay out. There's also shades and a changing room (no bathroom) on the banks. Great place to spend a few hours and easy to find but you'll need a 4WD vehicle to get here. Easy and short trail down to the pools. A few nice waterfalls to explore. Usually not crowded in the mornings as most folks don't visit the pools until they return from Caracol.
  • Fantastic place for a swim on any day! Wandering between the pools on the rocks, or wading through them to get between beautiful rapids is a relaxing and refreshing experience. Has changed rooms and an easily usable trail.
