  • Stopped here and was so glad we did. Small zoo with Belizian wildlife. Nice exhibits with lots of vegetation for the animals. You can really get up close to some. The howler monkeys put on a display w...  more »
  • I state that I am against circuses. Zoo and ... anything that undermines freedom and brings suffering to animals but here ... I have touched a very different situation. Given that they are all animals "belizegni" i.e. native ... For this nn torn from their lands and brought here. Are located in Central xche injured or because lived in captivity or to problems linked with man ... Yes live in cages but ... large and surrounded by jungle. .. I was told that acts as a recovery centre. where, wherever possible, are treated and released into the wild. I truly hope so. . You can admire wonderful animals up close! The Center is private so what you pay remains to them for care and livelihood of "guests" (at least it should be). I am very excited about seeing both the wonderful Harpy Eagle. tapirs. Wildcats, scarlett, the foxes, the various species of parrots, toucans and more ... But what really moved me. "junior Jaguars" x sexy is her sad story ... He beautiful! What about ... If he really is as they said ... everyone should take example and quit the zoo and open these centers "just" cn animals of their own country as they do here! To visit!!

  • The Belize Zoo is such a great experience. They zoo keepers are all very well informed and genuinely excited about their jobs. We took the night tour (I highly recommend) which meant that we had a private tour guide taking us through the zoo at night. This is when the cat are more active and it was amazing to see how they interacted with the zoo keepers and would do tricks for food. All animals at the zoo are rescues and the zoo's primary mission is to reintroduce these animals into the wild or, if thats not possible, use them for education.
  • Such a great place! The zoo is really natural as the animals are in their natural environment. The diverse fauna is great and you are able to see the animals quite close. Sometimes you'll find a zookeeper interact with one of the jaguars. Truly, the zoo is spectacular.
  • Great place to go if you are visiting Belize, I highly recommend the food there, the burger and fries combo is DELISH! I would also buy the souvenirs there, I didn't know they would be that cheap so I didn't bring any money with me which I regret! They sell this awesome "I brake for tapirs" sticker there, I wish I would have bought it! Overall, the animals seem really happy and the staff is also genuinely welcoming. Would definitely go back here in the future!
  • Loved my first time here with my family. It was our first time in Belize and my Mom said that we needed to See this Zoo since we seen every other Zoo like the LA Zoo, and San Deigo Zoo. So our first time here we got to see the jaguar up close. Man it was so dope I will never forget that moment in my life.
  • Stop by for a few hours to get up close and personal with the native animals of Belize. We were amazed to find most of the animals right up front at the tranquil and lush the Belize Zoo. This is not a commercial experience but clearly a labor of love and dedication to the very impressive local fauna.
