  • Polygone wood for the war was used as a military training area and here stood an artificial Hill to bullets. Opposite each other the Polygon Wood Cemetery and the Buttes New British Cemetery. On the latter the cemetery Obelisk 5th Australian Polygon Wood in memory for the 5th Australian Division. From Roeselare you can make beautiful bicycle tours throughout the West Flemish landscape that offers a lot of variety. Flat or gently sloping to get on these roads many monuments against that remind of WWI. On tours of ca. 75 km you can see a lot. Worth it. ...
