  • An interesting small museum. We had the chance to chat with a restorer of tapestries passionate by his profession. On the other hand, the Museum is called "Museum of Tapestry and fabric arts". If these are the fabrics that interest you, go your way. There is that tapestries!

  • In all, there are 10 medieval tapestries displayed, most of which are exquisite in form and preservation. They are also very nicely displayed, the ones hanging higher can be seen from the upper floor ...  more »
  • Tournai is museum of tapestries "Musée de la tapisserie et des arts du tissu" is an exciting experience. From sometime in the 1300-century tapestries were produced in the city, and its heyday was around 1430, when Phillipe le Bon ordered a series of rugs that would show the story of Gideon and 300 Knights. Over the next centuries impossible did the many wars the manufacture of carpets, which disappeared during the 1600 's. After the second world war was the manufacture of tapestries resumed, and is the is live again. The Museum's collection consists of historic carpets from 1400 and 1500-century as well as works from after the second world war. During the visit you will also get an insight into the manufacture of carpets. I spent an hour on this intriguing museum.

  • A lovely museum. Some old tapestries as well as some more modern. I found the information about the history and the different types of looms very interesting. There's a renovation workshop on the top floor.
  • Makes few want. It is not uncommon to not find someone at the front desk. This museum is very unattractive. Lack of modernity. To avoid.
