  • Yesterday I brought with my nephew a visit to the Castle. I was going to pick up him and he was super excited. Unfortunately this visit a bit in a minor key. On arrival we were very welcomed by the Lady at the box office. She gave a command for the nephew and he felt a real detective nose. At the castle itself arrived there would be still an employee normally wait for us but it was nowhere to be found. There was for the 9 children commands a of contents on a pc screen. This did not work. Also people who came before us told them that did not work. The next stop was a film but there was just an empty room, without screening. I am at that moment went looking for the employee who on the castle itself had to be present. I was however, there toegesnauwd. They did go to the computer game but indicated that they guide was and no computer technician. The castle was an old building and humid so there could, in its view, none of electronics work. No problem, the nephew had to fill out the commands according to her not; He would be the attention at the end of the visit. But there it was the child not to do. The film could also not work because there was a lamp jumped she said and they told there laconically at that that movie actually yet totally not interesting. ... At the continuation of the search were still 2 commands not to can be made and was the code word (answer). See also joined photos of these two activities. We heard also that at that time he said the employee against other visitors. These were apparently just been around the Castle and on the path that was not allowed. These people indicated that they were very disappointed that they were paying 20 euros and there is actually very little. And that's right. Down a small room or 3 and 1 large attic space. Once I remember that you definitely and probably around the Castle if hiking. So we were also pretty fast back to the entrance. A sad case. Back home I saw that I could get itself actually discount. I have and a teacher's card and a herita-membership card. Too bad this when paying also not as stated. We were at that time however the only ones who were in attendance.

  • Kasteel Wijnendale has a rich history. It's a gorgeous water castle at the border of the forest. This forest is good for hours of enjoyable walking. At the castle museum you travel trough it's >1.000 years of fascinating history! A variety of multi media presentations show you among other things these highlights: How Maria from Bourgondië falls with her horse. How King Leopold III of Belgium surrenders in this castle in 1940 to the Germans. How Torhout became priveledged as 'city' And numerous other interesting facts. For the kids there's the "Robbies Ghost Quest" to participate.

  • Beautiful castle in beautiful walled estate with beautiful walking and cycling trails in the surrounding area. In the visitor centre you will be welcomed and a visit is very nice with the children. We were surprised about the rich history of this castle, and the modern and attractive presentation. An asset!
