  • I've been visiting Coloma for years and always enjoyed my visits enormously. This time, however, I was a bit shocked about the state it was in. The rose bushes in the international rose garden obvious...  more »
  • Sint-Pieters-leeuw is a Belgian municipality on the outskirts of Brussels. Nothing at first glance until you get the beautiful park with Castle and Coloma rose garden discovered. It is a fairly large domain that is accessible from several streets and where the hiking trails are well laid out with a lot of benches, which are neatly. At the Chateau on the park is the tourist office. In addition, in a separate building is the Brasserie the Coachman, where it is very pleasant place both inside and on the terrace. The park is vast with large mown grass plains, ancient (beech) trees and a large well maintained and structured rose garden. Especially on this rose garden may Sint-Pieters-leeuw proud! There are hundreds of varieties drawn up in neat beds edged with boxwood and yew hedges. There are multiple places in the garden clear informative boards made with summary information on the roses. All varieties have a name plate which next to the name of the rose, the name of the grower and the year of creation. In a specific area are the roses are grouped according to the country of origin. And as it turns out that quite a number of European countries with the rose cultivation. This is apparently an important area of economic activity. Both color and variation in size is huge. Outside the rose garden, near the Brasserie is also a piece with Japanese (stick) roses. In this park would be images well. Currently, the share of the fine art limited. Yet this castle park with rose garden and definitely a must if you're in the area, worth a detour. In addition, all this is accessible for free.

  • definitely worth to visit this if the roses are open just wonderful and in combination with the castle of gaasbeek but if you desire is definitely a little detour that is worth to visit the Castle where one can go via Beersel (14th century) and something go an t'Gravenhof to eat in the Dworp, all highly recommended and guaranteed a wonderful day trip
