  • This British soldiers club from WWI is already open to the public since 1931. The attic Chapel, the beautiful garden and lots of memorabilia breathe the atmosphere of WWI. Also you have a beautiful garden, every now and then, they organise a picnic. You can also stay and feel the atmosphere of the time.

  • We went to Poperinge and have a weekend stay here. The museum is located in the garden but Talbot House is a museum in itself. The rooms do not offer comfort as in a luxury hotel but that just gives the charm to this hotel. The room has no shower but in the hallway is a bathroom that is used on turn. The floor creaks like this actually should be in an old house with lots of history. At the time we were there came the hosts from England (volunteers) which gives you only English could talk but this made it for our extra fine! In terms of breakfast you can choose between a plain or a full English breakfast. We opted for the latter and it was delicious. Talbot house is located in the Centre of Poperinge making you not at all far should steps for a restaurant/tavern. We had dinner in The Old Fiddler what is highly recommended. The hop Museum is located near the Town Hall and also offers a lot of history. Who wants to learn about the war years is here certainly come to the right place, we think it is a must!!

  • No heroic States about World War I and yet it is a very authentic experience about what soldiers experienced 100 years ago just behind the front.

  • This was an important place for all ranks of British soldiers during the First World War. It was a place to relax, drink tea, write a letter home, read a book, watch some entertainment, or just have a shower. The facilities are mostly still there, although the mass shower is now an exhibition facility. The gardens are very peaceful, and the room facilities are excellent; you will receive a friendly welcome. I can also confirm that tea is still always available whenever you want a cup; they also provided apple cake, which was very moist and tasty!
  • Definitely a place you need to visit if you're on a WW1 battlefield tour l was following in the footsteps of my Uncle Idey the museum, garden the Chaplains room plus the free tea and coffee served where the soldiers would have sat was very pogniant as my 17 year old son was with us just a year younger than his great uncle would have been in Nov 1917 - spooky in his words. However the Chapel in the loft is a sacred space over 100,000 soldiers passed through it l pray all of them trusting in Jesus
  • Very interesting place well worth a visit if your in the area History of WW1 is excellent in this old house Also free tea and coffee in with entrance fee at 8 euros
  • Worth a visit to where the battle weary front line soldiers could go for a bit of R and R in 1915
  • A very thought provoking place. A must visit if you are visiting the Battlefields.
