  • Fully explorable historic sailing ship... really makes you feel like a sailor :) The boat is anchored in the marina in front of the train station. The entrance fee is 4 euros, and the guide book, which I'd suggest you take, costs 1.50 euros. At the entrance we were warned that there are some steep steps during the tour: it was true. If you are disabled in the least, I suggest you avoid it altogether. The guide book contains a numbered map with the corresponding explanations. The path is clearly marked with arrows and you will also find the relevant numbers along the way. The tour takes you first to the 'top' exterior level, then all the way down, to the engine room. You basically see everything, and can really get a sense of what it must have been to live in the boat, not seeing solid earth for weeks at a time. What we enjoyed the most: the top exterior floor, in particular, the back steering wheel and the front of the boat. Also, the fact that there were very few people. During the visit, you'll learn about the history of the boat, its functioning, the life aboard, and some of the highlights of its historical feats, notably how the boat carried one of Easter Island's giant stone heads (Moai). The boat is in very good condition. Visited in April 2014
  • Great museum mercator built in my home towm leith and great wee cigarillos both highly recommended
  • Old glory, the Mercator, a huge 3 mast. The fishmarket along the pier is still a great place for strolling around in the real Ostend fishermansculture ... though pity it modernized a bit too much.
  • Very well
