Musee royal de Mariemont Reviews
De temps en temps, nous allons nous balader du côté de Mariemont. Très beau parc, essences sylvestres admirables, canards sympas. And then, the exhibitions are often interesting, even exciting. So we left hopeful visit dedicated to the hidden reserves of the Museum, its unseen treasures. Alas! What storms? Half of the sites was plunged in the dark: a lightning bolt had probably destroyed electrical installation. Very kindly, we planned flashlights for the visitors, but despite our goodwill, no way to perceive the richness of the collections, or to understand the originality of objects racked to the reserves. It was well received, with the flashlight, a brochure explaining what we had the chance to see exhumed. But pick up a long and continuous, white text on black background (not easy in the dark...), with abstruse references to objects, was anything but easy. There was a charming guide books available, but this is not easy when you're three, each with its pace and its points of interest. And then comes the light! Finally, we understood that this darkness was deliberate. No to to save money rendered necessary for questions of subsidies-regression, no! But to allow to better focus our attention on the objects. Too strong, those whose "idea" "concept" curators borders on genius! Their invention award on the richness of the collections. It should develop the idea. Next time I'd go to the caves of Han, I hope that it will be fitted with candles. And if I visit a Masonic temple, no need of lights, the spirit of the place should be enough.

The Mediterranean collection has blown us away. The busts of Hermes, the Greek drapery, the theme was the collections invisible namely objects difficult to place part of their unusual side or sometimes not authenticated
A friend told me to visit this museum that is very unknown. Only 40 minutes from Brussels, I thought it was a good place to go on my birthday. So we did. The temporary exhibition with etches of Rops, Klinger, Kubin and Simon was mind blowing great. And the permanent collection also was a real adventure. The fact that not a lot of people know of this museum is also great, because you can wander around and discover the collection at ease. The park and botanical garden and it's statues were a real delight. And a lot of history to explore too. Really great!
Very large park, where you can spend hours walking and listen to nature. As for the Museum, very well overall, lack can be information at the level of the meaning of the visit.
Visit all the rooms with a flashlight to see the permanent collections, it's quite tiring, even if we understand the scenography
What beautiful environment. Good exposures. It's too bad that there is not this new educational and interactive dynamism that begins to bloom in this kind of large Museum... short obsolete tad?
A museum full of various collections that are worth a look, especially for Asian art in general. A park also very nice when the warm weather arrives.
