  • The passion of a man offered to all. It's beautiful, exceptional and generous. Exceptional and remarkable collections are there for our enjoyment. It's a rare Museum that must see and we need to talk.

  • As a native of Mons, I was often spent in front of the Museum, without ever going there. On this day holiday and decided to make a museum or two on Mons, we chose this place. Without regretting it, much to the contrary. Do not be expert to notice the quality of the antiques that made up this place. In addition, our visit with decorated by high explanations in colors of the baron Duesberg, in person, on his collection. I highly recommend a visit to this place.

  • Mr. Duesberg, the curator, welcomed us with extreme courtesy. He showed us the riches of its Museum with pedagogy and passion. This museum is one of the most beautiful in Europe in the field of watchmaking and in General of the art of living at the end of the 18th century until the restoration. A museum threatened, they say, but to back up absolutely. It is the flagship of the city of Mons.

  • We met the history and time. The richness of this collection is extraordinary. A well known collection in Mons, however it could be a crucial point for visiting the city. Your eyes open!

  • What I liked: the quality of the Museum and the exhibits, not to mention the main: the expertise of the owner and his kindness. A must for any lover of the 18th and 19th century.

  • I. THE ART OF TIME AND THE ART OF THE TABLE CONJUGATE IN THE EXCELLENCE OF CRAFT AT THE SERVICE OF BEAUTY AND GOOD! What a joy to be able to contemplate so many splendours, gathered by a patron and a scholar of watchmaking art and the art of the table: watches and clocks, bronzes finely ornate, Golden or not, real jewels to ancient, mythological themes, to the glory of the work force in the colonies, to the glory of poetry, of literature or the arts. These masterpieces which are probably the largest collection of its kind in the world are as many testimonies of the best architects of the time and the most talented craftsmen under the 'Ancien Régime' and the Napoleonic era (about 1750-1820). In addition to the clocks, the Baron and Baroness Duesberg highlight music in shimmering showcases what Goldsmith of art had to offer in order to remind the good memory of the visitor as the charming little of Mons, capital European city of culture 2015, was also once an exceptional Goldsmith Center. From porcelain to services Royal, worthy of the best show offered by the art of the table 'to the French', crystals, jewelry - the cameos of the Baroness -, and a host of small valuable items and the various 'oddities' as well as some antique furniture, or even a fine collection of books and prints, are available to the senses of the visitors marveled... II. ITU Frankrijk, period einde 'Ancien Régime' - eerste keizerrijk, 'Empire stijl' (zegmaar 1790-1820). Deze real 'schat' didn't we'll thank effort in expertise van een verzamelaar verwoed aan. Het levenswerk van baron in Baronesses François Duesberg verdient een special dankbetuiging in is beslist een bezoek waard! III. A MOST EXCITING TREASURE highlighting French fine art, period + / 1790-1820, Rare timepieces, precious clocks & watches as well highly collectible silver, china, stemware, jewelry, various fine 'art objects' are on display in this unique museum thanks to the dedication of - and daily care and maintenance by baron and baroness François Duesberg. A life time achievement which deserves our deep respect and admiration!

Where to stay in Mons

Despite its close proximity to the capital, Mons attracts enough visitors in its own right to offer a small variety of accommodation options. You'll find mostly small, independent hotels clustered in the compact city center and, if you look carefully, a modest selection of low-budget lodgings. To cut costs, consider staying in Brussels and making the short trip by train for the day.
