  • Nice lady’s at the reception, they also played a video explaining the church history in English. Quite nice the restoration work they had here, it look amazing inside.
  • There is an official list of 7 Wonders of Belgium, which includes Ghent Alterpiece, Relics of our Lady in Tournai Cathedral etc as well. In this list comes the Baptismal Font of Saint-Barthélemy Collegiate Church. Though its a 12th C CE Church, it doesn't feel so, as it has been very recently renovated. But the Baptismal Font is the best example of early 12th C Goldsmithery.
  • You feel welcome when you enter this church. A small entrance fee is needed. But you get a hand-out in your language. I didn't read it because there is a lot to see. But make sure to watch the nice short video. The staff started it in Dutch, just for me! The baptismal font is very impressive. It is created with the lost wax method casting method. It is a very old method but it needs an enormous craftsmanship. The size , the sculpture and the openness proves that the make was a master in this craft. It is supposed to be from about 1107, but I personally think it could be much older. because it's very classical appearance.
  • Nice exterior. Can run around funly
  • I wasn't particularly impressed by the white walls inside, it felt a bit boring.
