Inspirock Rating:
1.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web
Honoring the Canadian troops who fought at Ypres Salient in World War I, Sanctuary Wood marks the spot where the troops executed their first planned offensive against German troops. During the attack the Canadians regained territory at the top of the hill, denying the German troops a view of Ypres. Located just outside the city, terraced gardens lead up to the a gray stone block that bears the Canadian insignia. Walk up to the monument for an excellent view over the town and the landscaped gardens. • A huge amount of utensils and weaponry are here in two relatively small rooms next to the pub. Also in the adjacent cottage is an extensive exhibition. There are also about twenty tables, in which you're already running a large number of unique photos. In the bunch behind the museum are the original trenches can still be seen. Also the craters of the grenade impacts have been preserved. Absolutely worth a visit.

  • This is an incredible experience. The collection of WWI artifacts, war art and trenches is simply amazing. The family and this museum is truly a credit to our remembrance of the First World War. Thank you for providing such an unforgettable experience. My students from years past still rave about visiting this site.
