St Michael's Bridge, Ghent

4.7
Enjoy one of the best views in the city from St Michael's Bridge, where you'll get a 360-degree perspective of the town's main attractions. These include the Old Fish Market, Castle of the Counts, and "Three Tower Row," all of which you can see in a panoramic cityscape. The pedestrian bridge is named for the church that resides on one end, recognizable for its large Gothic windows. A winged St. Michael watches over the pathway from the top of a lamppost. Don't be shy about asking one of the friendly locals to snap a photo of you on the bridge with the city in the background. • Is the perfect spot for photography. On one side you see the Graslei Street that is the most picturesque street in Ghent with well-preserved corporatist buildings of the 12th century. From the Gothic church of St. Michael. Deep in the beautiful buildings of the square Korenmarkt.

  • Crossing the bridge takes you back in time and make you feel at the time; buildings, architecture...

  • The view what you see from this historical bridge is just fantastic! Turn around and you have an unlikely panorama of historical buildings that crossed by the river "the river"! This is "the" place to take pictures!

  • Picturesque bridge. It's actually not as old as it looks and was constructed when Ghent hosted the world fair in 1913 as a part of a beautification effort by the city government.
  • Bridge may not be a destination in its own right, but it offers great views of and access to St Michaelskerk, which is very visit worthy. Note: Pay attention to which services are in Flemmische.
  • Arguably the best looking bridge in the city. Great spot for your photo moments. The scenery is wonderful!
  • A bridge with a magnificent view! 6stars out of 5! :)
  • So much beauty, beautiful architecture reflecting centuries of care and good taste! This area well deserves a few days of slow exploration and the restaurants and bars deserve your good attention.

Where to stay in Ghent

One of Belgium's main cities, Ghent offers a good variety of places to stay. Because of its proximity to the capital city of Brussels and the city of Bruges, Ghent has fewer options than one might expect for a city of its size. Locals recommend booking a room in advance. The city has options for travelers on any budget, from inexpensive hostels to pricier hotels, with most visitors choosing to stay within the historical center. Prices drop slightly as you move away from the Old Town.
