Following the footsteps of the Emperor Carlos V, we find the most absolute nothing. A poster saying (multi-language clear) that this city a citizen article was born an army with what today are Italians, Spaniards, Germans,... that the same laws applied in Spain in Germany or in Flanders. I.e., it laid the foundations of what we now know as Europe. And he was born there in Ghent. And he went to Spain without knowing Spanish and with a cut of flamingos. And here and there I ajusticio to all those who opposed him. Spain recognizes the Emperor and in the city who was born would they are ashamed of their citizen more illustrious? The statue of the hangman is a frightening, I don't know if he represents the smallness of their fellow citizens. A pity, because we got there together people from around the world and we were astonished. A plate or an explanation. A pity. Thanks to the city of Toledo, there is a statue of the emperor. This is Europe, history of Europe, and the emperor was born and lived here. It came after several times and made Europe. See Ghent City Council recognize the greatness of its most illustrious citizen. Living with their backs to the story does not change it.

There is much here to see what I can understand but not. So how Emperor Karl v has behaved towards his birthplace, I can well understand that the city is not worshipped him. He destroyed the city, when the citizens refused to pay additional taxes. If you have time, you can walk away otherwise you miss nothing.

The Prinsenhof is well hidden in Ghent. Tourists will not quickly find. It has its charms, I find. The Cobbles and the square are real toppers. Wonderful to walk through it because it is always quiet. It is well hidden in Gent-centrum.

Where to stay in Ghent

One of Belgium's main cities, Ghent offers a good variety of places to stay. Because of its proximity to the capital city of Brussels and the city of Bruges, Ghent has fewer options than one might expect for a city of its size. Locals recommend booking a room in advance. The city has options for travelers on any budget, from inexpensive hostels to pricier hotels, with most visitors choosing to stay within the historical center. Prices drop slightly as you move away from the Old Town.
