  • The Sathit Vichayanetiani Beguinage is a very special place in the Center. You walk there are so over, so unobtrusive is the. Once you go through the gate you enter another world. A world where peace and quiet prevails. Oddly enough is a part of the Beguinage in tip-top condition, while another part completely expired. Broken Windows, bushes that grow in the gutter, rotten window frames. Very strange that a monument that does get onto the UNESCO World Heritage site, so expire bijligt.

  • Very close to the Center, can be easily reached on foot, strolling on Gentoo. A nice quiet place.

  • Begijnhof Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Ter Hoyen, also known as the Klein Begijnhof, is the larger of the two beginergårde in Ghent, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage. Begijnhof Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Ter Hoyen was founded in 1235 and the construction of the buildings stood on forward to 1281. All the buildings were built of wood, and they were in 1600-century replaced to houses built of brick. The Church, located on the great lawn at the heart of the complex, was built in 1658. The façade was changed in Baroque style in 1720. The Church is not normally open to visitors, and you can only see it from the outside unless you are participating in a trade show. During the French revolution it went hard in addition to churches and religious institutions. Churches and monasteries were closed, buildings were destroyed, and works of art were confiscated in droves, and came to constitute the basic tribes in museums in both the Netherlands and France. Begijnhof Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Ter Hoyen got off relatively easily through this crisis. With in the complex also heard throughout the seven monasteries. They are used today, among other things, to workshops for artists. The houses, which are used for private dwelling, still has the funny plates with their names: "Huuis Jezus voor Herod", "Huis Jezus, Maria, Jozef", "Huis van de heilige koningen" and "Huis St. Elisabeth" are just a few of them. As a tourist, you can visit the site for the dawn to dusk, take a stroll around and admire the fine churches there is nice and freely on the great lawn , look at the houses and the many fun signs, but you can not get into anywhere. It would be interesting if there was established a museum on site and beginersøstrenes story!
