Belfry and Cloth Hall (Belfort en Lakenhalle), Ghent
(4.3/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the upper level of the Gothic belfry at Belfry and Cloth Hall (Belfort en Lakenhalle). As you ascend, you'll pass through different levels, each with its own theme connected to the city's history from the early 14th century onwards. Spend some time exploring hall's exterior, too, which is covered in statuary depicting stories of the people of Ghent, such as a young girl feeding her prisoner father. The hall serves as a perfect introduction to the city, and its central location makes it a popular first stop if you've just arrived. • The Bell Tower is in a super central point of Ghent. There has no audio guide but they have an application in several languages where you can go knowing all the environments and the story of the tower. The most interesting thing is that unlike some of the attractions like the Tower of Ghent has elevator and facilitates access to more people. From the top of the tower it is possible to have a beautiful view of the city. The day we were very windy and very cold, if you can choose a day or time without rain/fog will make the difference in the view. Attraction not to be missed!

  • All Befroid and City Hall is a staple of the Flemish cities and those of Ghent are to see. The Town Hall has a façade in 2 parts which show the periods of economic development through the architectural styles
