  • This is where the Germans and the English played soccer on Christmas Day 1914. That is until the generals got wind of it and called a halt.
  • A small but pleasing memorial to a moment of history.
  • As one of the places where a Christmas truce was celebrated together by both parties with football and small presents, it stands for what brings people together in times of peril and hardship and how sports (here football) can unite people from all over the world. This small memorial is worth a visit, not alone for people, interested in The Great war, but peace loving or football-crazed minds can all have a moment of truce right next to Ploegsteert Wood.
  • Newly constructed in 2015, this is a respectful memorial to the Christmas Truce, which took place at several locations along the Western Front in December 1914.
  • Wonderful place of contemplation "never forget"!
