  • Absolutely worth visiting. Everyone should make a visit to this mine where you understand what that means to emigrate for work and what were the difficulties, sufferings, sacrifices even with their lives. Fantastic Guide and made really well and would recommend anyone to take it. Don't expect the "usual" boring, it is much more. Super nice staff.

  • When I came for the first time to the wood of the locker at marcinelle, it was the Lightning's neck because I have a passion about the mines of coals, it's really great awesome and I can't wait to return, to study and take pictures because it's as if we were da NS history of the past. This is an amazing and awesome time.

  • The wood of the cars is not only a remarkable Museum of the mining past, but above all a place that inspires a very great emotion. If the minor trade could be hard, challenging, or even fatal... it was also an activity that extolled a form of social cohesion, of intense camaraderie, which marked you for life... All those who lived through that time, with their flesh, with their heart, remember with (probably) a certain nostalgia. In a "fragmented" society, "globalized" like ours, this type of relationship no longer exists as intensely, communication is scrambled and exploitation "Orwellian" has become more and more difficult to identify and especially denoncable. It was a time of optimism insofar as the future appeared - perhaps illusory way, and through social struggles without mercy, it is true - as 'open', promised a happiness that is accessible to all. That's why the wood of the Carter opens the mind and tightens the throat... of emotion.

  • Poignant memorial and excellent museum with explanations in French, English, Italian and Dutch
  • Surprisingly interesting and worthwhile! Plan at least 2h to visit the several museums on site.
  • Nice surprise after visiting Charleroi. First of all nice restaurant and than good museum about the industrial revolution and the social impact.
  • Super museum and memorial
  • Place memory full of emotion. The site was renovated too in my opinion and thereby loses its authenticity. Hard to imagine the miners in this place in 1956. Fortunately we were able to enjoy a guided tour. With a passionate and exciting guide!
