  • In the old brewery Wielemans took place, 20 years ago, a beautiful Museum of contemporary art. This gem of inspiration art deco has been restored and offers a superb mix of architecture of origin and treatment of the spaces according to the model of the raw concrete industrial buildings. On the ground floor, the copper vats offer a titanic welcome visitors. The different exhibition spaces offer interesting volumes which, most of the time, are conditioned by the works exposed. This year, the Wiels celebrates 20 years. For the occasion, a large quantity of works very various are exhibited and offered to the public. I'm not an expert on contemporary art and I'm not sensitive at all but some works offer a real questioning and unsuspected perspectives on the world. So I advise to come hang out and let soak up by what is proposed in this unusual place. The place also offers a panoramic roof that allows an overview on Brussels. You can, from this point of view, observe the switches of the South Station, it is very impressive. We had the chance to participate in a specific tour for children. 5 works have been presented to us and we were able to make art we also. It's a great way to educate children about what is in this place but also to make them understand that art is for everyone and created by each. I urge you to attend these workshops. On the other hand, there are book on the Museum's Web site. It is worth noting that the entrance ticket allows to visit 3 different places. I advise you also to have a tour of the top floor and down as and when. It is a place that is worth to discover and rediscover regularly since the proposed artists are many and that there is always something new to see or do at the Wiels. There are also many happenings, but I confess to be somewhat aware of modern art to enjoy. Come and open your eyes!

  • I just love the building. The natural light en white paint on the raw walls. It really gives a good, light feeling.. very pleasant to see works of art in such a space. And of course the expositions with contemporary art are never disappointing. If you visit the museum, don't forget to go to the roof terrace! Beautiful view over the city of Brussels.
  • Good food, simple but tasty, for a quick lunch in a nice environment
  • Wonderful building with some interesting exhibits, not to everyone's tastes, sometimes favouring ideas over artistic achievement
  • A major contemporary art center in Brussels showing international and emerging artists.
  • The main reason I visited was because I wanted to admire the architecture of the building - which I did. The exhibitions were complete rubbish and I was quite annoyed to pay 14 euros for something I did not want to see, however the views from the top of the building or a enjoying a drink or a snack from the coffee place compensated for that (no ticket required to go to the coffee place).

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
