  • The punished entered the narrow streets on the East side from a long-ago Catherine church square. Less crowded, still is around. Quite old but beautiful is the Baroque-style decorations. Men's toilet is beside the Church.

  • I honestly don't understand the elation over the Cathedral. Perhaps. just because I'm not a fan of this style. Yes, the Church is rather monumental and impressive, but in my opinion, and in Brussels, and in other cities and countries in Europe there are much more impressive churches and cathedrals. As correctly pointed out below, this atypical architecture of Brussels.

  • This beautiful church, Flemish Baroque style, was built between 1657 and 1676 by architect Faydherbe, pupil of Rubens, the Béguinage of Brussels area (in most of the Belgian cities of that era, the beguinage was the area where they lived lay congregations of single women, the beguines). Next to this church, he knew to be the convent with the largest Congregation of Belgium, 1200 women. Its interior features a stunning altar, along with beautiful carved confessionals, in addition to paintings by Flemish artists of the time. Its façade is considered one of the most beautiful of Belgium. Located in immediate vicinity of Santa Catherine metro station, is a very beautiful church that is worth visiting.
