  • Brussels is not only the city of the best chocolates in the world. Also it is not just the city of beer, French fries and waffles. Is the cradle of the Belgian Art Nouveau, artistic style that emerged at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. In St. Gilles is the House-Museum of Victor Horta. Victor Horta is considered by many the father of this architectural style in Belgium. In St Gilles there is large number of houses in the artistic style of the Belle Èpoque. Besides this is a neighborhood of Portuguese, Spanish immigrants, Muslims and others. It's a neighborhood with many restaurants of various ethnic groups, mainly Portuguese restaurants. Many bars and inviting cafes. I discovered there are several supermarkets, Carrefour, Day by Day, Portuguese and others. They say it's the best place to stay or live in Belgium.

  • The St. Gilles district, where we finished our recent visit to Brussels, is one of the most popular districts of the city. The neighborhood so we could say Bohemian Brussels. It is located near the Avenue Louise. It is a neighborhood that in recent years it has become fashionable, since it has a number of popular and crowded, bars as well as restaurants and shops. Saint Gilles, is yet one of the most multicultural districts of Brussels and has magnificent Art Noveau buildings, worthy to behold. Visit and learn about this place of Brussels is worthwhile.

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
