Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and of Military History, Brussels

4.4
#3 of 87 in Museums in Brussels
Located in Cinquantenaire Park, Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and of Military History houses aircraft, weaponry, uniforms, and vehicles from all the nations that participated in World Wars I and II. Tightly packed into two halls in the park's northern complex, the exhibits are dense and visually stimulating. Consider combining your visit to museum with a trip to the park. The hall where the artifacts are housed was meant to be temporary, but expanded to a permanent space with a domed, glass roof that is easy to spot from most areas in the park. • In the past, visiting the Armed Forces Museum was like walking through an attic that needed sorting out. Although some parts of the Museum still have a faint aroma of mothballs and Waterloo, the exhib...  more »
  • First of all, remind the 26-years-old people, remember and the door of the staff said that the original Five-euro ticket to pay only four euro, in fact, many of Europe's scenic spots and train, only 26 years of age are cheaper! the Royal Armament team and the Military Field Museum Museum are really great, the collection is super rich, there is a atrium filled with tank aircraft, They were all used at the time of the war, and many of the first and Second World Wars of the history and military equipment, military fans will certainly be satisfied!

  • Fabulous looking building ... amongst a few stunning buildings. No time to go in but looked through the huge glass windows at the side to see tanks, planes etc. if you were interested in this kind of ...  more »

  • They have a great collection or aircraft. Cafe left a bit to be desired. If you go upstairs you can access a vantage point on top of the arch and look down over the park as well as up the Boulevard to Montgomery. At €5 per adult it is well worth the visit and I think it is a good level of entrance fee for the museum.
  • Really cool museum, especially the big hall with all the airplanes. And the areas with the tanks etc. The rest of the museum is rather boring and very old fashioned. But the best things about this museum are the super cheap entry fees and the fact that you can climb the arch and enjoy the view over Brussels. Would definitely recommend this museum.
  • It has a fantastic hanger with airplanes and flight systems from the last century, even helicopters. A courtyard full of tanks from different armies. In of the rooms you can find an amazing looking cannon that is seriously distorted after a cannonball got stuck in it. Lots of uniforms and weapons from different centuries are on display. The only downside: the museum is also very much from the last century. Nothing much interactive. Old display form. You basically need a knowledgeable person to accompany you to make the exhibits come alive. A little sad for what can be done today. In summary: a huge collection of interesting exhibits but not well presented. If you can get a tour.
  • Great place to see all of humanity's war machine on display. From costumes, to misc items, to weapons, machinery, techonology and even life-sized planes, it's all here. Amazingly educational and somewhat harrowing experience. Prepare for some 'heavy' feels. Totally worth the 5 euros entry fee for adults. You can even take in a panorama view of Brussels!
  • Impressive museum. Unfortunately has almost no information in English and didn't have audio guides when we were there as well. That's sad.
