Pierre Marcolini, Brussels

4.1
Sample the refined chocolate creations at Pierre Marcolini. New collections are introduced every season, many based on ingredients found on one of the chocolatier's numerous expeditions to cacao plantations around the world. The chocolate designs are often works of art that reflect the taste of the individual chocolate maker. Visit the boutique to browse the many flavors and designs. If you don't want to carry the delicate treats home with you, consider using the shop's e-boutique to order a delivery of favorites to be sent directly to your home. • We tried Neuhaus and Marcolini. It seems that Garza and Marcolini are references for dark chocolate, but Garza was closed during the 1st half of August. So we compared the two neighboring chocolate shops. Neuhaus is the inventor of the praline. He made chocolate milk, filled with praline, mainly. There are also black, but very sweet chocolate (to taste, it seemed 50% cocoa). If you like the full-bodied chocolate (75% and +), go to Marcolini. On the ground floor, the shelves have appeared expensive, but packaging of tasting were pretty affordable (present also on the floor); They offer sample squares of different origins (Madagascar, Venezuela...) Tablet, helped a little explanatory brochure. Upstairs, you can also take unity of filled chocolate ganache, all more tempting than the other. It takes approximately 63 cts chocolate. There is a café on the first floor, but forget: tea is coffee € 5 to € 7,. The service is polite, kind and helpful. If you are big chocolate lovers (i.e you know the best chocolate shops in your city), you will already have as good or better known in France (for less). Chocolates are very good, just not exceptional. Here, you will have a good opportunity to make your opinion on Belgian chocolate.

  • I thought we would pass a special moment at the tea... But the place isn't comfortable, the menu map is all faded and on Sunday there was only 2 perfumes of ice (5 euros), or the Eskimos in the stand on street. Big disappointment too sweet and vaguely red fruits... a wooden spoon which broke out immediately... We asked... a forgotten... I got up to get another... offer a glass of water did not seem obvious. On the other hand tell us that our coffee was accompanied by a macaroon and a white chocolate, we were told x times. In short, we thought enjoy pastry chocolate... We had more desire to discover the chocolate while we had the intention before arriving... it is a pity!

  • Woe to him who would dare go ahead without stopping... It's chocolate, a product that is quite nice and good to health. A nice shop in a really nice area.

  • Great chocolate! Try the one with Earl Grey or the Four spices. It.s a totally different level of chocolaterie!
  • Excellent choice for chocolate, both pure and infused, which is what they excel in. Their packaging and presentation is beautiful. Skip the pralines and the macaroons as this is really not their forte, but try their luxury infusions as nobody in Belgium does it better.
  • Great hot chocolate drink with macaron. Definitely girls time!!!
  • Really nice place . Had a hot chocolate was great. Is a more high end shop . Realy nice tho
  • If you want exclusive chocolate and something not kitchi, this is the place for you. The chocolate is basically modern art here.

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
